A frosty morning

At the weekend we had the Winter Solstice and we’ve now moved into the really wintery weather. I’m sure you all felt the shift into a deeper level of cold last week. In Bendigo we can have some heavy frosts in Winter and with such cold weather we can go into a bit of hibernation. Winter is our time of renewal, for going within and readying ourselves for a new beginning in Spring.

So spend some time in your inner world, putting energy towards what you hope to create in Spring. You can read more about Winter and the meridians here. Stay warm, eat warming food and relax in front of the fire. This should be a time to nourish yourself deeply.

Throat Chakra and the Blue Ray

In my work the throat chakra is overlaid by the blue ray – the ray of your social cause.  Blue is about what you are called to do spiritually with your life.

Blue aligns with the thyroid gland, so it supports our immune system and helps us to overcome viruses.  I’ve been working with Blue Ray because of the sore throat issues and also persistent swollen glands.  When I looked at the swollen glands using kinesiology I was taken back to distant relationships where I hadn’t spoken my truth – I’d suppressed anger, hurt and betrayal – I really didn’t know how to express these things at the time.

I started writing this post months ago, but never finished it because I’ve had unreliable internet since I was forced onto the NBN.  I could not resolve this issue with the company I was with –  they would not fix the line.  They  just sent me new modems, three in total.  I repeatedly told them that this was not a modem problem it was a line problem.  They wouldn’t listen.  And I could not make myself heard, they only responded to complaints if I yelled at them (very stressful) and even then wouldn’t investigate properly.  Anyway, I changed to another company and the problem was instantly resolved just by being connected to a different point at the node.

So I’ve been thinking more about the throat chakra, about feeling not heard and about pushing to get a result.  Being assertive did not resolve the internet problem, sidestepping the issue and taking another route did.  The change needed here was to find another way, not to fix the road I was on.  This chakra is also about creative expression, purification, rhythm and the media as a forum for communication.

The throat chakra operates at the level of Divine Will,  and aligns us with place and purpose.  A balanced throat chakra allows us to move into the flow of Divine Will.  By overcoming the demands of the childish small will we can move into a larger flow, we can stop pushing, trying, and allow things to materialise . “What many of us lack in our lives is this resonant rhythm, the integrating aspect that connects us from the very core of our being to the heartbeat of the universe.  Consequently, we are at odds with the world and with ourselves . we lack co-ordination, cohesiveness and grace.”(Wheels of Life, Anodea Judith)

I hope I’m moving into more co-ordination now.  It is such a relief to turn on my computer and instantly connect to the internet – a huge stress has been resolved.  I can even write this post  – an expression of my social cause and the blue ray.

Summer Visitors to my Garden

Every Summer I am visited by Grey Currawongs, my friend Nerida has written the following message about Currawong wisdom. I think this is timely as we move into 2019 and we leave behind the ghosts of 2018.

Currawongs, are birds who are undeterred by the opinions of others, and appear to you when you find yourself meeting with challenging times or in need of releasing negativity in your life. They help you meet with your Ancestors who can shed light on lifting  pain, grief, old burdens or fear that hinder  creating a  peaceful and loving pathway. Call in Currawong as a totem to show you how to disperse weaker aspects of your personality, while strengthening your resolve to claim your own power. Currawong highlights the old, the redundant and damaging patterns from times past casting shadows that can make you feel haunted or restricted in making positive process and progress of your vision in life. Call in the healing of Currawong to help shift your perceptions and re-evaluate your beliefs and values to find new self worth, thereby allowing yourself to commence a new dance of the Ancient Circle promoting unity, strength, endurance and togetherness

Spirit Essence and a Sore Throat

Last week I started to get a cold and I nurtured myself with vitamins and homeopathics and herbal teas, but my throat was still sore.  Eventually it dawned on me to look to my own remedies for a solution.  So I took the Spirit essence for the throat chakra. My sore throat disappeared very quickly and the heaviness in my head dissipated – I felt quite different.

The throat chakra is where much of our creativity sits and here we find our voice to share our own creations with the world.  For a lot of us the idea of sharing our creativity, our inner world, can be a terrifying prospect.  We can bring ourselves down with a variety of negative mantras – “who am I to be doing this”, “I’m just crazy” or “everyone will think I’m crazy” – an endless list of internal abuse that keeps us in our stuck place.

On reflection I realised that my cold had started after I had begun to write a course about my essences. To present my work in this way had clearly awakened the old fears and doubts about sharing my creativity with the world and these fears had moved to the physical very quickly.  Doing my work is fine, but communicating, expressing my internal world, my creation in a new way pushed buttons.

Anodea Judith in her book Wheels of Life says that “survival and health in the twenty-first century will require innovation and flexibility.  Creativity is the key to unlocking these qualities.  We must honor it in ourselves and in each other.  We must honour the means which make it possible and protect ourselves from those phenomena which threaten to shut down this basic life force.”

We would all benefit from changing our negative mantras to positive ones and this simple change can help to break the patterns of the past and open us to a brighter, more creatively expressive future.

Knee Chakras and The Peach Colour Ray

Recently I completed a step in my work which was mapping my essences to the Peace Space Colour Rays.  While the initial job of mapping the essences was completed very quickly, I have been procrastinating ever since about putting the colours onto the website and doing all the other tasks that this shift in my work requires.

And then my right knee became sore.  The knee chakras are about moving forward on your path with joy and the Calm essence helps with this momentum by helping us to move into our still centre, so that we can move forward calmly, with a lightness of spirit and an open heart.  The Peach Colour Ray adds another dimension to this understanding as the Ray of Psychic Bliss and the Beauty of Blossoming the Future.  Peach helps us to embrace life no matter what, to take only the positive with us into the future and to let go and let God.  With Peach we can go with the flow because we have stepped into our still centre.

Today I have added the colour rays to my essence descriptions – just a note at the bottom of the page that states the colour and it’s broad purpose.  But what strikes me as I write this is how the essence and the colour work together so well and I wonder why I have delayed so long in this simple task.  And Peach also answers this – “Peach is … the giver of palliative care – to all that are dying to the forms and ways of the redundant past”.  And we struggle to let go of our tired old ways of being, of the restrictions we place on ourselves that hold us in the past.  But if we can let go, we can move into a future that is more than we could have imagined.

Calm essence and Peach, great partners in maintaining our momentum in the world, by taking us to the still point of total surrender.

Bush Essences Update

All of my Bush Essences are now available in the online shop

The complete set now includes essences made at Mt Alexander, Mt Franklin, Mt Tarrengower and Charlton.  Please click here for a full description of each essence.

I hope these essences bring a taste of the magic of Jaara Country into your life.  The dry, dusty and damaged bushland in Central Victoria has so much beauty,   it’s harsh surface hides a gentleness and deep and ancient wisdom.  These essences have taken me on a journey of transformation, they have given me an expanded awareness of myself and a deeper respect for country.  I hope that they will take you on your own journey of transformation.

Fog

It’s a beautiful foggy morning in Bendigo today – I like the feeling of being blanketed in fog.  This wintery weather emphasises the yin nature of Winter, it’s time to sit, rest and reflect.  You can read more about the energy of Winter here.  I’d planned to do some gardening today, but feel more like reading a book in front of the fire…

More Thoughts on Grief…

When grief is overwhelming or unrelenting there are some remedies that can assist.  The Bach Flower remedies cover a range of emotional states such as depression, despair and hopelessness.  The homeopathic remedy Ignatia can also be taken for anxiety, insomnia and depression due to an inability to assimilate grief and loss.  And my own essence The Elixir of Life can help with freedom from attachment, letting go and a new beginning.

Often it is the new beginning that we have trouble with – trying to imagine a life without the being who has passed.  But grief is not something we should try to escape from, it helps us to live more deeply and fully and strips away barriers.  This is incredibly painful and we may be left feeling raw and exposed at times, but ultimately it can make us more human and connected.    That sense of deep loss can make us pay more attention to the precious people and animals in our lives. Our sense of mortality – our acknowledgement of death and our fleeting time on earth – can help us to be more present, to live more fully and can possibly allow us to live with greater joy.

Strange Grief

I had an overwhelming sense of grief over the weekend, which I thought was due to the recent death of my dog.  Then a friend reminded me of the date and I realised it was the anniversary of the passing of my very good friend, teacher, healer and mentor.  I’m not very good at remembering dates, but somehow our bodies or emotional body remembers the passing and we slip into grief.  Again.  And it feels as strong as it was in the beginning.  Recognition of what grief I was feeling did create a shift and now the candles are lit in remembrance and gratitude having known this wonderful person.

And some candles for my beautiful boy as well.
